Gahanna, Ohio Beginnings

Gahanna was founded by John Clark of Ross County Ohio. Gahanna is a Native American word for three creeks joining into one and is the former name of the Big Walnut Creek. John Clark named his property the Gahanna Plantation, from which the City of Gahanna derives its name. Gahanna real estate is a great investment, being located just 8 miles northeast of downtown Columbus. Creekside Park in downtown Gahanna provides a nature escape around the Big Walnut creek, through Friendship Park that runs exists along shops and restaurants in downtown Old Gahanna.

Events and Activites in Gahanna, Ohio

Gahanna residents enjoy frequent and numerous events along Creekside Park in downtown Gahanna. In the spring, Gahanna hosts an Herb festival that is followed by the Creekside Jazz and Blues Festival in June. In July, the July 4th Freedom Festival takes place celebrating July 4th. Also in the summer, Summer Music in the Park is enjoyed by residents of Gahanna. In the winter, you can enjoy the Holiday Light Parade celebrating the holiday season.

Within a short drive of downtown Gahanna, you will find Easton Town Center. Here you can shop over 180 of the nations well known retailers. Visitors can also dine at a diverse group of restaurants including The Cheesecake Factory, Bon Vie, and Smith & Wollensky. Easton Town Center also features plenty of lodging options to suit your needs.
Gahanna is not far from downtown Columbus, where you can attend a National Hockey League game featuring our own Columbus Blue Jackets. You can also attend a concert at Nationwide Area, Palace Theater, or Ohio Theater. If you would like to attend events at The Ohio State University, you will not have a long drive from Gahanna.

Gahanna, Ohio Schools

Gahanna students attend Gahanna-Jefferson School District. Unlike many communities in Central Ohio, Gahanna features one centralized high school. Gahanna-Jefferson School District also provides an education for the majority of students in Blacklick, a small unincorporated adjacent village.
