About Grove City
A premier Columbus suburb, Grove City is a self-made community where its roots are as strong as its forward-thinking ambitions. Now boasting a population of more than 40,000 residents, Grove City has grown exponentially over the years. Here, you can experience the conveniences of living close to the state capital while still savoring the comfort provided by this cozy suburb.
Named after its towering grove trees, Grove City was originally just a vast wilderness area. The area's first settler, Hugh Grant, purchased the land in 1803 after he spotted it on one of his trips down the Ohio River. Years later, William Breck bought about 15 acres of the land intending to use it for farming. However, Breck had a change of heart once he realized the area's potential for growth since Harrisburg Turnpike runs right through, leading to the state capital. That potential for growth sparked into a revolution of development and has transformed into what is now the thriving Grove City.
